Indianapolis

Victory Inner-city Ministries began in 2000, starting in an inner-city park in Indianapolis. Victory Chapel and the Spanish Congregation, Iglesia Evangelica de Santidad Monte Sinai, continue the work of reaching out and making a difference in the inner city of Indianapolis. While these congregations remain relationally connected, they are now self-supporting, locally-governed congregations.

Detroit

Victory Inner-City Ministries began to scout possibilities in Detroit in September 2008. In October 2011, the first missionary to Detroit, Jeremy Baker, was commissioned and sent. In April 2012 we purchased the San Juan mission house. In April 2013, Daniel and Mary Troyer moved to Detroit to serve as missionaries with VICM. God used them to develop the relationship with Brown Evangelistic Ministries (BEM.)

In 2015, BEM partnered with EFM by donating the property at 4224-4226 Third St. We are currently turning this space into the AWAKE Cafe, a Christian coffee shop and ministry center.

New Beginnings Fellowship, our congregation in Detroit, started in April 2016. The congregation is pastored by Tonweya and Judy Sherman, our EFM missionaries to Detroit.

Mary Lou Brown Academy, our Christian school in Detroit, has ten students, using the ACE curriculum.

Service times:

4224-4226 3rd St., Detroit
11am and 6pm Sunday
6pm Wednesday

Our goals here include:

  • The development of the AWAKE Cafe as a center of outreach, particularly to international students from neighboring Wayne State University.
  • The growth of New Beginnings Fellowship through evangelism and outreach efforts to the surrounding community.
  • The growth of a self-supporting ministry team.

Cincinnati

Joe and Joanna Reimann moved into Price Hill, a challenging inner city neighborhood in Cincinnati shortly after graduating from God’s Bible School and College. Joe was the first VICM ministry intern in 2004. Together, they planted New Life Bible Methodist Church and pastored that for several years.

While the church closed, they have continued to live and to work in the community using the gifts that God has given them. Joe currently coaches Character Basketball, leads Bible studies, and pastors a house church group at their home.

Goals for this city ministry include:

  • The development of a Recovery House program for men seeking freedom from addictions.
  • The maturing of the house church group and development of local leadership.
